   My dad who are musically talented play their respective instruments by ear but it will take lot of time when people start to sing songs something simple and see if you could do is find one of.

   Playing by ear is a gift. But if you really want to learn, you have to keep practicing it. You need to learn chord progressions. and Pracitce.
