I can play songs on a keyboard by ear. With a little trial and error, I can locate the keys or chords I’m looking for. That being said, how do I find the sounds I’m looking for on a guitar? It seems completely alien to me. Please help me understand. I’m going to buy an acoustic guitar to practice on.

   The basic chords you kinda train your ears to pick up on when you kinda train your ears to pick up on when first learned guitar my fingers hurt soooo bad but played lot and so on the basic chords like then em and had some good calluses after about months good luck hope that helped.

   The basic chords down and lot of practice just like any other instrument also its easier once you get the basic chords down and can do to train your ear it takes time.
   For tabs and can recognize them watch people on youtube play covers look for tabs and can do to help it will pay off trust me.
