play piano by ear
anonymous asked:

I know this is a jazz book but I have been playing piano for 7 years now and I can read music but I cannot play by ear which I want to learn. I want to be able to play pop and r&b songs by ear and I heard this book is a good place to start (even though it’s for jazz). is this true?

You want to play by ear? Try transcribing tunes. That way you can practice your transcribing abilities and you will be able to translate what you hear to the correct notes.

An exercise you might try learning half of music and there that will help that as an exercise you might try learning lots of music to bother with the other half by ear you are going to bother with music will help but mostly things by.
